Why are so many people depressed?

Updated: Mar 25

Welcome to Walid Rafo Advice!

I am a Spiritual Counsellor and I have opened up this site to help those in need. Specifically, those who are encountering certain obstacles in life. It is a great blessing to be in this position. A position where I can help others just as Christ has helped others. Most things I have had experience with, and others I have learned from. Either way, I do not answer questions I am not knowledgable of. I will take my time to respond if I must. Either way, I will make sure that your question is answered as soon as possible, and to get you the assistance you need through my writing.

All of us around the world have committed sins. Absolutely all people around the world! When we are going through depression try to figure between you and the Lord why that is the case. When we commit sins, that can be a reason for feeling depressed. Especially if you never choose to stop or reduce it. You let down the heart of God and pain him more than the feeling you have of depression. When anyone commits to sin, we must ask for forgiveness of the Lord Jesus. We make fools of ourselves when we repeat our sins intentionally the next day. We continue in our sins, and so we will never rest unless your rest is in the Lord. Your rest in the Lord is when you want to be like him and resist your sins.

When you stop your sins, increase prayer and repent. Ask the Lord for his forgiveness and begin going to church. Please, go to confession. Receive the body of Christ. Let the Holy Spirit work in you. From that day forward, you will be happy and released from all depression.

There are also those who take depression pills. When you take these pills you rely on the pill and not on God. The wicked leads you to depression. He wants you to be sick and to continue with taking medication and to impact you in a negative psychological way in your mind, and throughout your body. These can result in many additional side affects to the body. The devil likes to make us miserable until he accomplishes his goal of putting us completely down.

The only medicine of truth and joy where you CAN and WILL be healed, is in the name of Jesus Christ. The one who crucified himself out of love on the cross to destroy our sins, and to receive us in his kingdom with purity. He is the one who destroys all evil from our lives.

My advice for you is to stay away from all evil, and rejoice in the goodness of pleasing the Lord. In all truth I tell you, from this day forward you will be filled with great happiness. For our joy is in the Lord, forever.

My guide for you is Jesus Christ the shepherd. He is called the shepherd because he guides his sheep. All of his sheep are glad and filled with great joy because their shepherd tends to their needs and fills them. They are never in need but they are always filled.

Also, keep busy with prayers. Study the holy Bible. Be a humble person and filled with forgiveness towards all people. If you hold grudges and do not forgive, you will become more sick and depressed. This is because you are holding within you a great weight. This weight is one that the Lord once held unto you, but he let go. In the same way the Lord has forgiven us for our sins, let us also forgive those who have sinned against us.

When you are depressed a rage goes on inside that you will pour outwards. This will lead to darkness. Before it is too late, begin to lead your mind and heart into the light of the Lord Jesus Christ. Through the intercession of Mother Mary. Through the warrior Saint Michael the archangel, and all the angels and saints. Through their prayers, may you be filled with joy and light all the days of your life.

Today, I will be writing about a dream I had many years ago. This was in my younger teenager years. I believe I was about fifteen during the time of this dream.

This is the dream:

I saw myself standing in front of my father and my mother, and I was yelling at them in anger. Then, I slowly saw Jesus appearing in my father and Mother Mary appearing in my mother. I stopped yelling and backed away closer to the door of my home. Then, I saw my father raise his hand, and he motioned to look behind me. I turned around, and I saw what seemed to be a big, roughly 8 foot tall dirty spirit. It looked like a body of black tar and horns. I was afraid at that time and ran to hide behind my father. I heard the voice of Jesus in my father speaking to me. He said, "If you disappoint your parents, you disappoint me. Love your father, as if you are showing love to me. And love your mother, as if you are showing love to my Mother Mary. Love and honour your parents."

This was the dream. It was quite short, but I must record everything I have seen in my life. I have learned a lesson behind every single dream, hence, why I decided to call this website "Spiritual Life Lessons."

Ever since this dream, I've done everything in my power to obey, respect, and love my parents. If ever I spoke in anger as a child, I asked for my parents apology, and confessed to the Lord.

I know that there are many young people reading this blog now. You might have problems with your family. Whether it's your father, mother, brother or sister. It doesn't matter which family member it is, show love to them. I can't emphasize this enough. If only you received the message I did, then you would truly understand how much honouring and respecting our parents is important to the Lord.

There are families where the father is the issue. Go to your father, apologize, even if you did nothing wrong. Hug him. Love him. Kiss him and tell him how much he means to you as the father of the house. Kiss his hand and place it on your forehead. This signifies your respect and placing your father above you.

This is the order I have received from the Lord. First, God. Second, your earthly father. Third, your earthly mother. Fourth, your brothers and sisters. Fifth, your friends. Lastly, yourself. There is an acronym in the word, "JOY", that most of us haven't noticed...

J = Jesus

O = Others

Y = Yourself

You have joy when you place Jesus first, then others, and then yourself.

What do we see today? We see everyone placing themselves first, others second, and then Jesus last. What does that spell out? "YOJ". That's JOY backwards. What does this mean? What's the opposite of joy? Instead of joy, you will have sadness. But if you follow the JOY acronym, you will always find joy and peace within your family, others and yourself.

Maybe you have a problem with mom also. Go to her, apologize, even if you did nothing wrong. Kiss and hug her every morning and tell her how much she means to you as the mother of the home. I'm guilty. I don't hug and kiss anyone in the morning, because I'm always 95% asleep and 5% awake. My mind isn't with me in the morning. But! I make my parents laugh every morning by just getting up and saying, "Good morning." It's most likely because it's funny to see me when I'm tired. Maybe one day I'll have the energy like my dad. He doesn't sleep all night, but wakes up like a lion roaring.

If you have a problem with your family, ask Jesus to help repair it. Ask for the intercession of Mother Mary. How can you be right with Jesus, if you can't even make yourself right with your own family? Jesus says to leave your gifts at the altar, make peace with your brother and sister, and then come back. We see this more and more everyday. We're showing hate to everyone, and then showing love to God. It doesn't work that way! Jesus said, "If you love me you will keep my commandments." One of Jesus' commandments is that we should, "Love one another, just as I have loved you." If we aren't loving one another, we're not keeping the commandment of Jesus. If we're not keeping the commandments of Jesus...well... you know what that means.

Whether your in the right or wrong, go and make peace in your family! If it's not you and it's someone else in your family. The love of God will transform that member in your family through YOU! Yes, I said, through YOU. I don't care what your past is. When you repent and give your heart to Jesus, you crucify your old self with him on the cross and are made new with him in his resurrection.

Now that we're finished with this blog, listen to what the Spirit of the Lord inside of me is telling you. To get up, hug and kiss your father and mother, brother and sister. If you can't see them because they live far away, call them and tell them how much you mean to them. This will bring you what your heart desires from the Lord. Don't just read and not act. Learn and demonstrate.

I know of many people who have money anxiety. As a matter of fact my son was once someone who was constantly overthinking how to bring in money during such a difficult time. He was able to defeat this issue even during his times in need. So if you are someone who has money anxiety, I seriously know what you are going through, and I am here for you.

I remember when he had money anxiety, he was contantly overthinking. Constantly! There was no rest. The only time his anxiety would go away is when I brought him into the holy room (chapel) and calmed him down with faith and teachings. The next day he would have this money anxiety again, and I had to repeat the same step everyday until finally God blessed us.

When God blessed us, my son regreted everytime he was having anxiety because his trust in the Lord was not as firm as mine. He always speaks to me about how blessed he is to have me as his father, because he does not know what he would do without me. I am likewise blessed to have him as my son. One who cares for his family wholeheartedly.

Now, if you are someone who has money anxiety, I need you to trust in the Lord with all of your heart, with all of your mind, with all of your soul. I can't emphasize enough that the Lord will always provide for your needs! It is true! All of my families know about the struggle my family and I had to go through, they know about the pain and the stuggles and the sufferings. They are witnesses to this.

My advice for you is to pray, and talk with Jesus. Talk with his dear blessed Mother Mary. I want you to know and remember for as long as you live. Even if there is no one from the world that you can speak to, there is a father and mother in heaven that will always be there to listen and do something about your situation. All you need is faith, love, and perseverance.

I know plenty of people around the world are struggling with this particular topic at hand. Money is not an easy thing to make. I have an old saying that goes like this. "Money is hard to bring, but easy to go." It's true. I have noticed one thing in particular that is an obstacle in peoples journey to building wealth.

Firstly, your day jobs are getting in the way of becoming successful. You have to make time during the day to think about a great idea that will grow and help you become successful. I was once sitting with a very wise friend of mine that said, "Look at the people who are working minimum wage jobs. They are working all day. They don't have time to sit around business people and listen to some of their ideas. Business people are drinking there coffee at the shop while they are in a different store working. Big income, comes from big ideas, and require big perseverance."

I'm not saying to remain unemployed and that's the end of that. No. I'm saying to make sure you have enough time to work on your own ideas to maintain and achieve the level of success you are seeking.

Secondly, Believe in yourself. Most people are negative and they don't believe in themselves anymore. Belief in yourself is very important! Don't you forget that! If you don't believe in yourself, how can you motivate yourself to become successful in life? What about the haters along the way. Then there's no way you're going to achieve what you want in life.

I need you to always believe in yourself. There's power in the method of positive thinking. There are so many people that are always filled with negativity and they still want to grow in wealth. Negativity is one of the main factors for many peoples downfall. Negativity is what weighs us down and doesn't allow us to pick ourselves to a level where we can succeed.

When you always think positive, even when you fail, you will find a way to succeed. Most of the time when people remain positive even when they fail, they will succeed. The ones who are negative are often close to success but then strike themselves down and result in failure. Remember to always be positive and continue striving for your desired dreams and goals.

Mitchell has defined motivation as ‘the degree to which an individual wants and chooses to engage in specified behaviours’. Simply put, motivation is the reason why an individual wants to do something. The four characteristics that underlie Mitchell’s definition are: motivation is typified as an individual phenomenon, as each individual is unique; motivation is described usually as intentional; motivation is multifaceted and the purpose of motivation theories is to predict behaviour.

Having employees involved in decisions that affect their works have a positive impact on their motivation. Using money as a motivator is also way to motivate people at the workplace. The opportunity to earn more money motivates some employees to increase productivity. There are two types of pay for performance programs.

For example, is the behavior stemmed from personality, emotion perception, and memory or if motivation stems from concepts that are unique. Each year, billions of dollars are spent on motivation courses by large companies. The course involves training in motivation, meetings to boost motivation, incentives to strengthen motivation, meetings to analyze problems in the workplace motivation, tools to measure motivation mission statements, etc.

And as a result from the survey, Herzberg concluded that there are two-factor theory that affects an employee performance on workplace. Satisfier or motivator on the job What satisfies and motivates employees in workplace is called motivation factors. Each subject from the research study pointed a different factor that motivates them in workplace.

(Samson & Draft, 2012) Herzberg believed that hygiene factors work only in area of dissatisfaction, while employees are highly motivated just by the presence of motivators. It is the only motivational theory that splits out demotivating factors from true motivators. This two-factor theory seems to be illustrated in the Devil wears Prada as well.

CHAPTER TWO 2. LITERATURE REVIEW OF MOTIVATION 2.1 Motivation and Motivation Theory The term motivation is derived from the Latin word movere, meaning “to move.” Motivation can be broadly defined as the forces acting on or within a person that cause the arousal, direction, and persistence of goal-directed, voluntary effort. Motivation theory is thus concerned with the processes that explain why and how human behavior is activated.

CONCLUSION Money is always an important motivator for people at all level of needs. Lower-end needs can be best met by money motivator. Higher-end needs will be met by intrinsic motivators like self-achievement but better satisfied when it is accompanied by Money motivator. Money is also an important motivator in the sense of performance-related payment when drawing from expectance theory.

Using this model it becomes clear that money is a motivator but not the only motivator. If motivation is not present it can cause dissatisfaction, the extent of this determined by one’s circumstances and other satisfactions that can be achieved at work. Receiving recognition and having opportunities available to grow and work up the ladder are just as important, if not more, influences on motivation.

The students are always motivated, and when we talk about motivation, it refer to student`s efforts to learn. Positively motivated students are more pleasant to learn, prepare more carefully for class, participate more actively and achieve more than negatively motivated students. Teachers should recognize that to improve motivation they will be dealing with cognitive, affective, social and perhaps even psychomotor variables.

The negative or positive KITA or “kick in the ass” approach to employee motivation yields short- range results, but rarely generates any actual motivation. In fact, to call it an “approach to motivation” is to clearly misunderstand motivation as Herzberg understood it. KITA yields movement — the avoidance of pain — not motivation.

It can also originate from specific physical needs such as eating, sleeping/resting, and sexual reproduction. Motivation can be divided into two types: intrinsic (internal) motivation and extrinsic (external) motivation. Intrinsic motivation Intrinsic motivation refers to motivation that is driven by an interest or enjoyment in the task itself, and exists within the individual rather than relying on any external pressure.

charity). 2. Extrinsic Motivation – occurs when people receive an external reward for the act (e.g. money). Approaches to Motivation 1. Instinct Approach – proposes that some human actions may be motivated by instincts (e. g. motherly instinct, survival instinct). 2. Drive –reduction Approach – when an organism has a need, the need leads to psychological tension that motivates the organism to act; fulfilling the need and reducing the tension (e.g.

There are many strategies that are used to influence employee loyalty and these are intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is one’s personal development, self-control over their work without reward. Whereas, extrinsic motivation is having external incentives, pay bonuses, time off, these are some common strategies used to motivate and individual to complete or do a task.

[1] Students are likely to be intrinsically motivated if they: •attribute their educational results to factors under their own control, also known as autonomy, •believe they have the skills which will allow them to be effective agents in reaching their desired goals without relying on luck •are interested in mastering a topic, not just in achieving good grades Extrinsic motivation Extrinsic motivation refers to the performance of an activity in order to attain an outcome, whether or not that activity is also intrinsically motivated. Extrinsic motivation comes from outside of the individual. Common extrinsic motivations are rewards (for example money or grades) for showing the desired behavior, and the threat of punishment following misbehaviour.

The study of motivation aims to facilitate understanding of what prompts employees to initiate action, what influences their choice of action and why they persist in such action over time. Motivation is important to business practitioners since it assists in seeking high performance within organisations. While effective employee motivation improves productivity, it also generates challenges for managers to channel motivation towards the accomplishment of organisational goal.

We can summarize by saying that motivation is important both to an individual and a business. Motivation is important to an individual as: 1. Motivation will help him achieve his personal goals. 2. If an individual is motivated, he will have job satisfaction. 3. Motivation will help in self-development of individual.

(http://www.csb.gov.hk/hkgcb/hrm/pdf.fcle/e-motivation). The broad rubric of motivation and motivation theory is one of the most frequently studied and written-about topics in the organizational sciences, and is considered one of the most important areas of study in the field of organizational behavior. Despite the magnitude of the effort that has been devoted to the study of motivation, there is no single theory of motivation that is universally accepted.

Ask any person who is successful in whatever he or she is doing what motivates him/her, and very likely the answer will be “goals”. Goal Setting is extremely important to motivation and success. So what motivates you? Why are you in college? If you are in college because that’s what your parents want, you may find it difficult to motivate yourself.

It is an effective motivator but not in all cases. Drawing from some of the famous motivation theories, this article discusses from the individual employee’s perspective on different occasions and effectiveness of money as a motivator. The study will focus on hierarchy of needs theory, expectation theory and equity theory to explore the interaction between a person and the environment with money motivator in place.

Hence, it is important that the teacher will motivate the students both intrinsically and extrinsically. In total, motivation is indeed an integral part to make the educative paradigm successful. And self-determining skill of the students is very essential so that the students will be also easily motivated in everything that they will do.

Motivation The process by which activities are started, directed, and continued so that physical or psychological needs or wants are met. Came from the Latin word “movere” which means “to move” Two Kinds of Motivation 1. Intrinsic Motivation – occurs when people act because the act itself is satisfying or rewarding (e.g.

Intrinsic motivation refers to motivation that is driven by an interest or enjoyment in the task itself, and exists within the individual rather than relying on external pressures or a desire for reward. Intrinsic motivation has been studied since the early 1970s. Students who are intrinsically motivated are more likely to engage in the task willingly as well as work to improve their skills, which will increase their capabilities.

The content theories of motivation are based in large part on early theories of motivation that traced the paths of action backward to their perceived origin in internal drives. Major content theories of motivation are Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, Alderfer’s ERG theory, Herzberg’s motivator-hygiene theory, and McClelland’s learned needs or three-needs theory.

General objective The general objective of the study was to identify the causes and impacts of lack of employees’ motivation and to identify the basic causes of dissatisfaction of employees to ward their work, which aggravated lack of employees’ motivation. Specific Objective •To indicate which is the basic factors for lack of employees motivation currently in the bank •To show the relation between lack of employees’ motivation impacts and employees’ turnover. •To assess the potential consequences of lack of employees’ motivation in the Bank.

The lack of a unified theory of motivation reflects both the complexity of the construct and the diverse backgrounds and aims of those who study it. To delineate these crucial points, it is illuminating to consider the development of motivation and motivation theory as the objects of scientific inquiry.

(Levin, et al., 2012). A worker motivated by extrinsic factors may be there just for the money and other benefits. It is motivation which keeps an employee performing and striving to become better at doing their job. There are different ways of motivation, theories, and pro and cons of financial incentives pertaining to the workplace.

What’s fascinating about this is that even things like human relations training and job participation don’t intrinsically motivate people. They may charge a person’s battery, but it will run flat again at some point of no real motivation is instilled. Recommendation Although it is a special situation that employees with particular personality, like Andy, can be forced to get involved through experiencing failure, the lesson of motivation, that employees will emerge relatedness needs and then generate higher motivation once they concern and feel related to workplace, is rather a useful inspiration for managers to encompass enhancing employees’ involvement as motivation issues.

Only if higher-level needs (motivators) were met would individuals be motivated. (http://www.csb.gov.hk/hkgcb/hrm/pdf.fcle/e-motivation). The implication for managers of the motivator-hygiene theory is that meeting employees lower-level needs by improving pay, benefits, safety, and other job-contextual factors will prevent employees from becoming actively dissatisfied but will not motivate them to exert additional effort toward better performance.

In this case where intrinsic and extrinsic motivations are mixed, one might suppose that over a period of time the accompanying extrinsic reinforcements gradually increase our intrinsic enjoyment of the activity and perhaps vice versa. Extrinsic Motivation Extrinsic Motivation comes from without, such as money, titles, honors, trophies or a date. Extrinsic motivation has been found to destroy intrinsic motivation.

What is Motivation? Motivation is based on emotions. It is the search for positive emotional experiences and the avoidance of negative emotional experiences. Motivation is involved in the performance of all learned responses. It is a behavior that will not occur unless it is triggered. In general, psychologists question whether motivation is a primary or secondary influence on behavior.

(http://www.csb.gov.hk/hkgcb/hrm/pdf.fcle/e-motivation). According to Motivation and Leadership at Work (Steers, Porter, and Bigley, 1996), in the early twentieth century researchers began to examine other possible explanations for differences in individual motivation. Some researchers focused on internal drives as an explanation for motivated behavior.

A good and smooth-sailing classroom discussion begins with a creative and powerful motivation. Even if the teaching strategies and educational tools are good, a classroom discussion would not be successful without the aid of a good motivation. Motivation is an integral part of the success of the teaching-learning process inside the classroom (Oelmuller 2007).

Through motivation, the students are aroused to listen, participate, discover and learn during the classroom discussion. There are two types of motivation namely intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation refers to the inner drive that comes from the selves of the students. This drive causes the students to become curious or excited about something.

In order to be productive at work or at home an individual must be motivated to complete their task. There are two main forms of motivation, intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation is the desire to do the task right out of the satisfaction of a job well done without any ‘rewards’. Extrinsic motivation comes from external sources such as incentives programs.

Motivation is the desire to do something. It plays a huge role in any workplace. You want your employees happy and wanting to come to work. People who work for the love of their job are showing intrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation refers to performing an activity for the inherent enjoyment or satisfaction derived from the activity.

That is the violent war between employers and employees. Indeed, motivating employees through the use of money as a material reward or motivator for work achievement is and has always been a matter of controversy. Many theorists tackling motivation theories, human nature in general and motivation in particular, have accordingly examined this issue and yet they did not give the same answer as whether money can motivate workers for work or not.

This is what I call a “win-win approach”. 7)Doesn’t money trivialize work and weaken sense of belonging?•Yes, sometimes it does. 8)Money: Motivation or Manipulation?•Again, the answer depends on the approach. In absolute term of motivation, money will be manipulative. 9)What is your conclusion (experience & personal opinion) about “Money as a Motivator”•Money is one of the motivating factors, but certainly not THE motivator.

Besides, UP has student mobility contracts with universities from the United States of America and Japan too. Motivation is a significant point in learning issues especially in language learning. Motivation can be categorized in several ways. But the concept of motivation can be divided into two parts: the first one is language learning motivation; the second one is motivation to study abroad.

Findings Motivation refers to the forces either within or external to a person that arouse enthusiasm and persistence to pursue a certain course of action. The rationale behind theories of motivation is to provide a framework through which organisations can better influence their employees’ drive to work and increase their enthusiasm with their roles. Theories of motivation mainly contain content theories focusing on the underlying needs that motivate, process theories explaining the way employees select behavioural actions and reinforcement theories examining the relationship between behaviour and its consequence.

Motivation tops among the very important constituents in any language acquisition among beginners. The worry of any teacher is also to ensure equal motivation for students at though researches have shown that different motivation tactics exist for different students. Aim at motivating students also needs to influence whatever existing motives, goals, dreams or ideas in the students for learning English language.
